The OER Course Collaboratory is an international collaboration among individuals and education institutions to create, reuse, revise and remix OERs specifically for courses on open education which you can teach at your own institution without restrictions. Our aim is to widen access to knowledge and capacity building in the open education field.

This event will showcase the work of the UK Open Educational Resources pilot programme and highlight how the UK is supporting innovative learning, teaching and assessment by enabling universities and colleges to share educational materials freely online.
The GUIDE Workshop 2010 New Challenges for E-learning in cultural, scientific and socio-economic development organized in collaboration with the Università degli Studi Marconi will offer a general view of the current opportunities coming from the inclusion of digital technologies in the educational and professional sector.

A new issue of EDUCAUSE Quarterly has just been released that focuses on "Anticipating the Future of Higher Education". The issue includes an article written by Patrick McAndrew, Eileen Scanlon and Doug Clow who all work with the OLnet team at The Open University that draws on a range of project work at the OU, including OpenLearn and OLnet. The lessons to take away are summarised as:
The Group's main objective is to investigate ways in which computers and new technologies can be used to improve the quality of education. This objective has been interpreted broadly, giving the Group a variety of research areas including computer supported collaborative learning, evaluation of information and communication technologies, mobile technologies, and inclusiveness and accessibility.
Open educational resources by their very nature are materials that have been designed to be re-usable. So the EVOLUTION project is running a workshop that will provide participants with an introduction to the concepts of Re-usable Learning Objects (RLOs). It will also explore Generative Learning Objects (GLOs) developed by the RLO CETL project and then participants will be provided with a hands on session that will enable them to develop learning objects using the GLO Maker 2.0 tool.
