Our excellent OU chum Martin Weller has kindly tweeted and blogged about the forthcoming openED course. As Martin is a well-respected figure in the educational technology community, this is a fantastic boost for us in getting the word out about the course.
It is probably inevitable that the first presentation of this course is more likely to attract those who are interested in the ideas associated with open courses than those who are necessarily interested in the subject matter (business and management). And that's probably fine: this first presentation is very much about exploring what's possible, what works for participants and what doesn't. And interested, experienced participants from the edtech / elearning communities can really help us with that. We are, to as large extent as we can, developing this course in the open.
But we also need to get the word out to those who are not completely comfortable with Web 2.0 technologies, and that's a harder task. People who follow Martin's blog or twitterfeed, or who read OLnet's news, are already likely to be comfortable with such technologies. How do we bring the course to the attention of less tech-savvy business and management folks; i.e. folks who might help improve the course and/or participate as learners?
