Collaborative patterns and design for OER: new approaches to improve the design and reuse of resources

The workshop will introduce participants to a range of tools, methods and approaches to designing and evaluating Open Educational Resources (OERs). The session will explore how learning design and pedagogical pattern methodologies can be used to help with the more effective design and reuse of resources. Examples will be taken from existing free and open resources, such as the OERs in available in OpenLearn. Participants will have a chance to try out some of the tools that have been developed as part of OLnet and to discuss relevance and application to their own practice. See also the related OLnet cloudscape and the OULDI cloudscape, which have additional resources. Further information and workshop resources will be made available in Cloudworks. The workshop will be of interest to those involved in course development or those providing support roles to course teams on the design process and how new approaches and technologies can be incorporated. You will be using the CompendiumLD software. Please bring your own laptop if you have one, if you haven’t let us know and we will provide workshop machines. Workshop facilitators Gráinne Conole, Yannis Dimitriadis, Patrick McAndrew, and Tina Wilson Location Ambient Lab in the Jennie Lee Building, ground floor.
