  • Mtech session on Mobile WiFi Hotspots to be held in the Library.

  • Announced Apple iTunes Training opportunity 11-12 March

Sara

  • Everybody has been registered for OER10 in Cambridge
  • Janet is starting on Monday and will be supporting OLnet project

Michelle:

  • Finishing jetpack stage 2 entry for deadline on Sunday

Anna

  • Has done new blog post about cohere and COP15
  • Cowrote paper with Elpida was accepted for network learning conference
  • Making a poster about collective intelligence

Liam

  • Installing a new way to handle image uploads on the OLnet site
  • Made Moodle run on a mobile phone

Giota

  • Had a flash meeting with P2P University people to deepen collaboration to research link relations between levels of tutoring and social learning
  • Looking for people to observe in studies

Patrick

  • Internal to IET workshops for learning in an open world – seems quite likely there will be a follow on workshop looking at bids for OU
  • An article will soon be available about the future directions of open learn in ALT newsletter
  • Was on an Olnet stand at the OpenLearn event last week
  • Deadline was 18th January to apply for OLnet fellowship some financial support. There have been thirteen applicants, three have self selected as experts, seven as fellowships and the rest as internships. Final decision Monday 1st February. Will let candidates know by the end of Feb.
  • Working on year two plan for Hewlett year 1 report – any ideas send to Karen
  • James looking at H809 as part of OpenED project and producing and open version of it that will live on OpenLearn. OpenED involves research work around how utilise open learning with European partners. Wrote into bid OLnet team carrying out that work. How to manage this in proactive way is an issue.

Tina

  • Had a meeting with Pauline Ngimwa has been doing some work for OLnet in Africa and her PhD – is going to write a report to give to Patrick by end of this month.
  • Working with Engin on OER10
  • Has been helping Teresa Conolly with teaching fellow application for SCORE
  • Working with Kasia and Engin on an E-Learning paper

Nick

  • Finished a blog post about embedding on OLnet
  • Wrote a blog post about tracking OERs

Kasia

  • Working on a paper Future Learning Conference

Andreia

  • Met up with collaborators in Brazil
  • Working on paper for the International Associations of Open Universities which will be a keynote
  • Had a meeting with a representative from the University of Football
  • Met with Everton Zenella a representative of San Paulo University. Thinking of creating a committee to design a syllabus and workshop for OERs in Portuguese spreaking countries. Would like to develop an OER handbook

Karen

  • Next week is the Learnabout Fair – will have similarities to OpenLearn event - helpers welcome
  • Doing a progress report for meeting at 5pm
  • Preparing for end of year budget report
  • Had a Skype conversation with Renee Fisher at CMU
  • Working with Martin Weller on a virtual workshop to be held 22-23 June. Got a lot of people together in a planning meeting so people can comment. Seemed very positive.
  • Has circulated today an email to the five researchers about OpenEd, an EU funded project (as mentioned by Patrick)

Will – Requirements document

  • Starting discussions about it in June last year
  • Over last couple of months has had more time to work on it
  • Wants to work on defining and refining technical development for project
  • Created higher level functional specification
  • Also thinking about services as well as web presence
  • Considered user types – see document
  • Then outlined tool types including OER tracking
  • Nick commented: Using Google tools to track reuse with web bug
  • Wants to open up document to contributions throughout February then wants to freeze
  • Question from Karen: Trying to finalise T&Cs, Will: getting sample T&Cs drawn up for Cloudworks, may help here
  • Will share Google Doc with team
  • Functional strategy helps team understand the development requirements and helps developers build what is needed, helps to drive direction then people on ground can decide how interpreted

Next meeting of small groups next week 3 Feb – clashes with Google apps presentation.  Will need to rearrange or cancel.

Conference plans – 22-23 June

Outcome of workshop on 15 Dec – Patrick would like to do some follow up from the outcomes of that workshop.
